The Pittsburgh Penguins streaked past the Philadelphia Flyers, 6-0, at home on Sunday afternoon to advance to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Ryan Malone and Evgeni Malkin each scored in the first period to put the Penguins up 2-0, and the Flyers never challenged as the Pittsburgh crowd was on its feet for nearly the full sixty minutes.
Pittsburgh attempted 25 shots on goal, to just 21 for Philadelphia.
Things got out of hand rather quickly in the second period, as the Pens scored three times in an eleven-minute stretch to put the nail in the coffin.
Marian Hossa, Malone and Jordan Staal found the net in the second, as the Philadelphia defense and goalie Martin Biron appeared shell-shocked for most of the afternoon.
Pascal Dupuis then joined the party at the 4:03 mark of the third period, pushing the score to 6-0 in favor of the Eastern Conference Champion Penguins.
Pittsburgh goalie Marc-Andre Fleury recorded 21 saves en route to a series-clinching shutout.
Both teams served ten minutes in the penalty box, but Pittsburgh made their opportunities count as they scored a pair of power play goals.
The Penguins will play in the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1992, as they await the winner of the Detroit/Dallas series.
